The Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks of the United States of America is one of the oldest and largest fraternal organizations in the country.  Since its inception in 1868, the Order of the Elks has grown to nearly two million men and women.

Its national headquarters is based in Chicago, Illinois.  This campus is also the site of the Elks Veterans Memorial Building, the home of the Elks National Foundation, The Order's Charitable Trust, the Elks National Veterans Service Commission, and the Elks Magazine, the official publication that is sent to every member of the Order.

Because of a quiet network of charitable giving and hard work performed by the Elks, millions of lives have changed profoundly for the better, yet little public awareness of this impact and vital work is known.  This is because the Elks have rarely sought recognition nor have they gone to the general public with fundraising efforts nor received funds from any level of government.  The flow of money and goods moves in the opposite direction.  The Elks donated to the Federal Government the first veterans hospital, regularly contribute to schools, police and fire departments, and assist the youth and the needy throughout this great nation.

From the generous hearts of Elks members with a great eagerness to share this powerful force of charitable giving, from prudent long-term planning, and from a willingness to serve for free and with enthusiasm, the Order is infused with an exuberant and enduring expression of the true volunteer spirit.

Let it be noted that the elected leadership of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, from the Exalted Rulers of local lodges to the national president, the Grand Exalted Ruler, as well as other decision makers at all levels, serve without salaries. The organization is governed through democratic representation with overall statues set by voting at national conventions.

As a proud yet humble organization, we will continue to serve our great nation locally, statewide, and nationally; and we encourage all with an industrious and giving spirit to join this fraternal organization.

Fraternally Yours,
Lisa Sauceda, PER, PDD, SVP

Exalted Ruler
